Post subject:  3.5 Redux....

I know there are a number of projects out there in the intertubez, of people attempting to Redux 3.5, I've had my hand in my own personal approach for a bit, but have left it on the sideline just from lack of commitment. I was interested in what people were looking for in a 3.5 redux. What are some of the key issues people would like to have addressed and how would you like them addressed?

I know people say they want spells fixed, to make spellcasters not so great, but do they want each individual spell fixed? Or do they want spellcasting itself nerfed? What is the best approach to these?

Personally, I lean away from nerfing magic all that much and more towards pumping up non-casters.

Yeah... no point ticking off the wizards. I just like making the other classes more fun.

This is why I like Tome of Battle, it adds lots of options, and a lot of flavor, arguably Tome of Battle didn't go far enough though.

It is my opinion that magic should be axed "a little bit".
Not in extremes.
That is, my small annoyances of "that is just too good" and "that is just outright broken."

Then everything else pumped up.

So maybe fix some of the obviously broken spells. Tailor them into sanity. I guess in order to do that, you would have to have a measuring stick of what a person at such and such a level should be able to do. I mean encounter CR's are nice, you can just say everyone should use this much of their resources on this difficult of an encounter. But then you have to have a way of measuring those resources objectively compared to other classes. I can see why 4th edition is so stupid proof, the designers didn't know how to balance the current system, so they scrapped it.

If you break the game up into tiers based off of spell level, and use the spells of each level as a measuring stick, you might have a good starting point.
